Message from Jeff:
"We will
soon be gathering for our 50th reunion celebration,
which will begin at field 4 at Jones Beach
and culminate in a party at my house.
(For more
info on locations, please go on Facebook or
text Shari - just click on Sharyn Fuller link
below every page.)
Here's a brief synopsis of what I have planned:
Start time is 1:00 PM (although coming
ealier is okay!)
End time is when the last guest leaves -
(I really don't care how late it goes, even
if until dawn!)
After the band finishes their set after 9pm,
it will be time for our own talented musicians
to play the Beach Bums open mic for the rest
of the evening.
I love all of
you beyond words! No one has a group of friends
like this anywhere and I can't imagine what
my life would have been like without knowing
all of you!
I have already begun to receive donations
to help defray the costs. The suggested donation
is $50 per person. If you can give more, great!
If you can only afford less, every little
amount will certainly help. If you can't donate
anything, please just make sure you show up!
Lastly, as we get older, more folks are leaving
us for the next world every year. Most of
us know who they are and the memorial roster
that I update each year unfortunately now
has several more names on it. So please, do
whatever it takes to come home for this awesome
milestone anniversary - 50 years is quite
an accomplishment for any group. It may be
the last time that some of us see each other
in this world again and it absolutely should
not be missed!
With love and gratitude to all of you for
being who you are, and for who you are to
me!"
Six excited
Bums!

The Jones Beach Bums Website
This
website was launched as a labor of love in
March of 2004, but due to the invention of
Facebook several years later (and it's superior
interactivity) coupled with the recent loss
of it's pro bono status from the original
hosting company I worked at in 2004, it has
for several months now been slated to disappear.
However,
even though it is not really necessary anymore,
I still LOVE it. To me this website is something
akin to a child. I have always felt like I
gave birth to it, after which I then sculpted
it with many hours (perhaps thousands)
of loving attention.
So
in early 2021 I decided I was not going to
let it go, that I would find an inexpensive
way to keep it going, for at least a little
while longer. (After all, it has been written
up in New York Newsday FOUR times!)
That
is why it is still here, even though I warned
you all that it was on the chopping block.
And it will be here for the next 3 years (I
got a quantity yearly discount). Worth every
penny to me! I love the pictures and the messages
too much to lose them.
I'm
sorry the Jukebox no longer works (perhaps
one day I'll figure out how to get a replacement)
and that the password protected Directory
page is defunct. But if
anyone wants or needs to see a copy of the
directory, just message me on our Facebook
page and I will send it to you.
Hoping
for a 50 year reunion this summer!

Very,
very sad news.
Ronnie Lancaster
soul mate and husband of Joanne (Isaacs) Lancaster,
devoted father of Michelle and Jennifer, loving
grandfather of three, beloved brother of Paul,
one of the Jones Beach Bums founders and also
one of the most popular members due to his dazzling
good looks, charm and generous spirit...
passed away on Wednesday, March 4th, 2009.
In addition to his loving and adoring wife,
his beloved brothers, his mother, many other
close relatives and a tremendous amount of close
friends, Ronnie leaves behind Jennifer, a 9-year-old
daughter. And we, the Jones Beach Bums, have
decided to create a fund to help her.
UPDATE ON "JENNY'S FUND":
In order to get a NY 529 College Savings program
started,
$1,000 needs to be raised.
NEWS FLASH:
the minimum has been raised!
NOW Jenny can get the benefits of
having a NY 529 College Savings program! Thanks
to all who helped reach this milestone towards
her college fund!
TO ALL WHO HAVEN'T YET AND STILL WISH TO HELP
For now, continue to send checks directly to
Joanne's address listed on the directory (in
Jenny's name). When the fund is established,
the new address will be posted
If you don't
remember the password for the directory, contact:
shari@jonesbeachbums.com
PLEASE
NOTE:
Our annual reunion date is the
same and we will meet
at the beach from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
THEN, starting at 3:00
PM on 7/25/09
there will be a fundraiser for "Jenny's
Fund"
The Village Pub
174 North Wellwood Ave.
Lindenhurst, NY 11757
(631) 592-4260
Food, music by our own musicians and amazing
raffles into the night -
a fabulous time for a great cause, in memory
of Ronnie Lancaster.
Please contact Danny Calvagna at dc_tarsus@yahoo.com
if you are
interested in helping out, would like to entertain,
or just have general questions.
